This
class uses video and book series with discussion to study
biblical, theological, historical and archeological
themes.New lecture series Understanding the New Testament by Professor David Blake. This is a 24-week lecture and discussion series. Quick overview: The New Testament is a fascinating book--the canonical root of Christian history and theology. Yet the book is also a paradox, because this single "book" is comprised of 27 different books by more than a dozen authors, each of whom has a different perspective and is responding to a different... This class uses the adult Presbyterian Curriculum, The Present Word, which covers biblical, topical and theological themes.The format is mostly lecture. The Spring curriculum begins March 5. The class will be starting a new quarterly and the book is entitled Jesus Calls Us. It begins in the New Testament. Unit 1 is called From the Margins of Society with readings from Luke, Matthew and Mark, John and then back to Mark. Unit 2 is called Experience the Resurrection and continues readings in the New Testament. The final unit is called The Birth of the Church with readings from the book of Acts. This class uses lectionary texts using a simple process called Ecclesial Reading of Scripture, on which Allen will base future sermons. This class uses Growing In Grace and Gratitude which covers Bible stories and topics basic to reformed theology. The Fall curriculum will begin in September.
